Initiative 2053 is a large-scale, equity-driven housing initiative designed to help Detroit residents transition from renting to sustainable homeownership. The platform needed to do more than inform — it needed to educate, track progress, build trust, and scale impact.

I was responsible for designing and building the complete digital ecosystem that supports this mission, including the public website, brand identity execution, and a secure academy platform for participant education and progress tracking.

The Challenge

The client needed a platform that could:

• Communicate a complex, data-driven housing initiative clearly
• Establish trust with Detroit residents, partners, and institutions
• Support a multi-phase homebuyer education program
• Allow participants to securely log in and track progress over time
• Scale to hundreds of families while remaining compliant and transparent

This required a solution that blended strong storytelling, modern UI/UX, and real application logic, not a static marketing site.

The Solution

I designed and developed a custom React-based platform consisting of two core systems:

1. Public Initiative Platform

• High-impact landing experience with motion and storytelling
• Clear explanation of the Initiative2053 model, impact, and KPIs
• Responsive design optimized for mobile-first community access
• Dark/light theme support with a refined design system
• Smooth Framer Motion animations to guide users through content

2. Initiative2053 Academy (Custom LMS)

• Built entirely in React with Firebase Authentication
• Secure student login and account management
• Firestore database to store user progress and learning state
• Course structure designed around homebuyer readiness milestones
• Ability for participants to return and continue where they left off
• Scalable architecture for future cohorts and program expansion
